Plans for a new railway station in an Essex town have been submitted to the borough council.
Countryside Properties wants to build the station at Beaulieu Park in Chelmsford where a development of 4,000 homes and a business park is planned.
The proposals include a bus interchange and substantial cycle parking.
Developers said the facility was expected to reduce congestion at the existing Chelmsford station and in the town centre.
The four-platform station is expected to open in Spring 2015.
John Oldham, group chief town planner with Countryside Properties, said: "This planning application is a significant step forward in making the new railway station in north east Chelmsford a reality."
